The Joe Barnhart Bee County Library will be opening to the public beginning on 
Tuesday, May 26, 2020 To ensure health and safety, we have made temporary policies such as limiting library capacity and new hours of operation.See below for the full list of new policies. Please call us at 361-362-4901 if you have any questions.

Temporary Library Policies

  1. Library is open 9am to 6pm Monday through Friday.
  2. Only 18 patrons allowed in the library at a time.
  3. Patrons must maintain social distance spacing of 6 feet.
  4. Masks that cover nose and mouth are highly recommended.
  5. Entrance and exit to the library is through the front door only.
  6. Patrons may turn in all materials due during closure of the library by Wednesday, June 10 to avoid overdue fines.
  7. There will be curbside service available through the phone and using holds on the library catalog on our website for all materials (books, DVDs, CDs, etc.).
  8. Bestsellers can be reserved for an hour for curbside pickup.
  9. Only 5 computers will be available.
  10. Computer use is limited to one hour.
  11. Computer use must be reserved and are for business and study uses only.
  12. Computers will shut down at 5:30pm for cleaning.
  13. Copy, scan, and fax services are available until 5:30pm.
  14. All books taken off the shelf must be put on the cart for reshelving.
  15. Bathrooms are closed to the public.
  16. Library programs are canceled until further notice.
  17. Notary services are suspended.
  18. Inter-Library Loan services are suspended.
  19. Library play, study, and sitting areas are unavailable.
  20. There will be no loitering allowed.
