The Summer Reading Program starts on Tuesday, May 28, 2019

and ends with the Summer Reading Finale on Saturday, August 3, 2019.


Childrens Summer Reading Rules:


  • Children 0-12 years of age may participate. Teens 13-17 have their own reading program. Ask for details.
  • Each participant must have a library card with good standing (up-to-date, no fines, no overdue items). All cards related to the participant must also show good standing.
  • Parents and guardians may pick up and return registration forms at the Children's Desk. An attendant will check each one and give reading logs to participants.
  • For every 10 minutes you read, are read to, or listen to an audio book, your parent or guardian initials a circle on the reading log. Also, for every library related event you attend, our Children's Librarian, Robert Young will fill in an additional circle on your log.
  • If you lose your reading log, you may start a new one from the day you receive the replacement
  • Once the entire log is completed, bring it to the Children's Desk. For each log turned in, you will receive a reading prize for your age group (0-3, 4-12) and a raffle ticket. The more tickets you earn, the better your chances to win a grand prize at the Summer Reading Finale on Saturday, August 3, 2019.
  • All reading logs must be turned in on August 2, 2019, the day before the finale.
  • You must be present at the Summer Reading Finale on Saturday, August 3, 2019 to win a prize from the drawing, so please mark your calendars!

Teen Summer Reading Rules:


  • You must be 13-17 years of age to participate.

  • Parents and guardians may pick up and return registration forms at the Children's Desk. An attendant will check each one and give reading game boards to participants.
  • To complete spaces on the game board, read (or listen to) a book relating to the genre on that space. Be sure to include the book's title on wach space. Whenever you complete a color set, you can bring in your game board and receive a small reading prize.
  • Also in wach corner of the reading game board is a special task. A staff member will stamp your game board whenever the task or color set is completed.
  • If you lose your game board, you may start a new one form the day you receive the replacement.
  • Once the entire reading gameboard is completed, bring it to the CHildren's Desk. For wach game board turned in, you will receive 3 raffle tickets. The more tickets you earn, the better your changes to win a grand prize at the Summer Reading Finale on Saturday, August 3 ,2019.
  • You must be present at the Summer Reading Finale on Saturday, August 3, 2019 to win a drawing prize, so please mark your calendars!
